Get Your Life and Your Smile Back

Complete tooth loss or a mouth with many missing or failing teeth can severely impact your quality of life. Do you feel less confident when interacting with others as a result of your mouth or smile? Has your diet been seriously restricted to soft foods or liquids, forcing you to miss out on the foods you used to love? Or do your dentures cause you painful sores and repeatedly slip or fall out of your mouth? Living with tooth loss is never a pleasant experience, but our team at Western Pennsylvania Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery has a reliable and long-term solution for you—All-on-4® dental implants.

All-on-4 is an incredible procedure that allows us to restore entire arches of missing or failing teeth with a beautiful and functional prosthesis made of high-quality zirconia material. This prosthesis is attached to as few as four dental implants for a secure fit. All-on-4 is the closest thing to natural teeth and most of our patients experience a drastic increase to their overall quality of life and self-confidence.

Our All-on-4 Process

Most patients are surprised at how easy and streamlined our process for All-on-4 can be.  Our oral surgeons will capture detailed images of your mouth, jawbones and remaining teeth to get a complete picture of your oral health and begin planning your All-on-4 case for optimal results. Before and during surgery, we use state-of-the-art X-Nav technology which allows us to place your implants with extreme precision. X-Nav shows our surgeons the position, angle and depth of their tools in real time so all guesswork is removed from surgery. We also offer anesthesia for our patients so they can practically sleep through their surgery and block out any sensations of pain or discomfort.

Your All-on-4 restorations are then separated into two phases. The first phase takes place the day after surgery and we will fit you with a temporary prosthesis of teeth to wear while your implants heal and your permanent teeth are finalized. We provide you these temporary teeth the next day so you have time to rest after surgery and when you come back the effects of anesthesia will have worn off and we can provide you with a better and more comfortable fit to these teeth. The second phase of your restoration gives you a permanent zirconia bridge of teeth that can last you for a lifetime once attached to the implants.

The Highest Quality Materials

Just as we don’t compromise on the process for implant surgery, we never compromise on the materials we use when providing All-on-4. We use high-quality Nobel Biocare™ brand dental implants, which are one of the leading name brands in dental implants. Your restorations are of the highest quality too so that your teeth always look and function naturally. Your first set of teeth come the very next day after your implant surgery and are made of attractive, strong acrylic, much like dentures. You’ll wear these for a few months while your implants heal and your permanent teeth are being created. Your finalized teeth are made from top-of-the-line zirconia ceramic, which looks, feels and functions just like natural teeth would. Once these are fit over your dental implants, you’ll enjoy virtually 99 percent restoration to your natural bite. With these materials, we can ensure that your new smile looks and feels natural while lasting for the long-term with proper care and routine checkup visits.

Make a Life-Changing Commitment

We strive to make the process simple for everyone, and when you do come down for surgery, our office is strategically located near a hotel, so you never have far to go. Frequently Asked Questions

The All-on-4 dental implant procedure is a revolutionary treatment that has transformed the way we approach tooth replacement. Ideal candidates for this procedure are those who have lost most or all of their teeth due to decay, disease, or injury. This treatment is also an excellent option for those who are dissatisfied with their dentures and are seeking a more stable, long-term solution.

However, it’s important to note that not everyone is a suitable candidate for All-on-4 implants. Factors such as bone density, oral health, general health, and lifestyle habits can all influence whether this procedure is right for you. That’s why it’s crucial to have a thorough consultation with a skilled oral surgeon like Dr. Steven Krakora. He can assess your unique situation and help determine the best course of action for your dental health.

One of the most significant benefits of All-on-4 implants is their longevity. With proper care and maintenance, these implants can last a lifetime. The prosthetic teeth attached to the implants typically last 10-15 years before they may need replacement due to normal wear and tear.

However, the longevity of your implants can be influenced by several factors, including your oral hygiene habits, diet, and lifestyle choices. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings, along with good oral hygiene practices at home, can help ensure your implants last as long as possible.

Recovery after the All-on-4 procedure varies from patient to patient, depending on individual health factors and the specifics of their case. However, most patients can expect some degree of discomfort, swelling, and bruising in the days following the procedure. These symptoms are typically manageable with over-the-counter pain medication and should subside within a week or two.

During the initial healing phase, it’s recommended to stick to a soft food diet to avoid disturbing the surgical sites. Most patients can return to their regular diet within six to eight weeks post-procedure.

While the physical healing process takes a few weeks, the implants themselves need several months to fully integrate with the jawbone – a process known as osseointegration. During this period, it’s crucial to maintain excellent oral hygiene and attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with your oral surgeon.

All-on-4 dental implants offer several significant benefits over traditional dentures and other tooth replacement options. Firstly, they provide a fixed, non-removable solution for missing teeth, offering greater stability and comfort. Unlike dentures, All-on-4 implants won’t slip or click when you talk, eat, or laugh.

Secondly, All-on-4 implants help preserve your jawbone, preventing the bone loss that typically occurs with tooth loss. This helps maintain your facial structure, preventing the sunken, aged appearance that can result from prolonged tooth loss.

Thirdly, All-on-4 implants allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence, improving your overall quality of life. They look, feel, and function just like natural teeth, so you can enjoy all your favorite foods and smile with confidence once again.

Lastly, the All-on-4 procedure is typically more cost-effective than replacing each missing tooth individually with an implant. It’s a comprehensive solution for full arch restoration, providing you with a complete, functional, and aesthetically pleasing smile in a more affordable way.
