At Western Pennsylvania Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we offer more than just advanced surgical procedures and can help patients look their best with restorative cosmetic BOTOX®. If your face is starting to show fine lines or wrinkles, BOTOX is a common and effective solution to smooth out your skin. After treatments, patients look years younger with smooth, youthful, supple skin. Wrinkles and lines appear in your skin naturally as you age but also when your muscles become overworked. Imagine when you repeatedly fold clothes, lines will form, and the same occurs in your facial skin as you make expressions or go about everyday activities. To get rid of these lines, you will have to stop folding the clothes, or skin, as frequently. BOTOX helps prevent overuse of your facial muscles and skin, thus reducing the visibility of these lines and wrinkles.
BOTOX is an FDA-approved dermal filler that uses botulinum toxin to temporarily prevent muscles from moving. Our oral surgeon, Dr. Allison Burner, are trained in the application of BOTOX and can help you gain a more youthful appearance. When applying BOTOX, we will inject it just under the skin to relax the muscles from overworking. This prevents the muscles from contracting excessively, which helps smooth out the skin. Additionally, BOTOX can be used to relax your jaw joint or other facial muscles to relieve painful symptoms of TMJ disorder, excessive clenching and grinding of teeth or end migraines. BOTOX injections typically last around 3-4 months before another dosage may be required.

We have always exceeded the strict OSHA-mandated protocols to maintain a highly sterile environment within our offices. These guidelines were created to safeguard against the spread of severely contagious diseases such as tuberculosis and measles, and they are equally effective in managing the spread of influenza and coronavirus.
In addition we have added more rigorous disinfecting techniques and sterilize common areas more often. Our office has added a sanitizing system directly to our HVAC which “cleans” the air continuously for an added safety measure. We have minimized contact with staff as much as possible by utilizing the internet and phone contact when possible, and have added the option for some to do a virtual visit.
